Farming Wind in West Texas

A business run on the merits of Joe and Ruth Ann Millsap's legacy of bringing the best out of any situation. Their sons carry on the ideas of green energy and capturing the wind for a better tomorrow.

Wind is Harnessed in West Texas

With the advent of Third Planet Windpower LLC, wind farming and windmill placement has been the number one economic growth area in the Sweetwater corridor. The biggest wind farm in the world exists just 20 miles north of us in Synder, Texas. This 167 wind park has now gone on the grid with 67 of the windmills already being installed.  The balance are set to be installed by August, 2010 to complete the park. Roads have been masterfully carved into the once cotton land and the windmills are springing up in style. Built nearly 200 feet high with the blade span of over 90 feet, one windmill can generate the power to provide electricity to over 25,000 homes. The issues we face in the near future are trying to expand the grid to harness this energy. Efforts are underway to increase the grid and allow more power to be generated and routed to needed homes. Efficient, green and the number one alternative to oil and nuclear power plants, this new wind farm is one of many future opportunities to provide efficient energy to our nation with the least environmental effects. We are happy to be apart of this growth and look forward to providing additional value to the Lone Wolf Mountain acreage.
